Rumble Stripe

A rumble strip is a traffic safety feature designed to alert inattentive drivers by causing a distinctive vibration and audible noise when a vehicle’s tires pass over it.
They are typically raised sections of pavement, often made of asphalt or concrete, that create a vibration and a loud rumbling sound.

Rumble strips are commonly used in the following ways:

Centerline Rumble Strips: These are placed along the center line of a road to alert drivers who may be drifting into oncoming traffic.

Shoulder Rumble Strips: These are located on the edge of the road to alert drivers who are drifting off the road.
Cross-Centerline Rumble Strips: These are used to alert drivers of upcoming intersections or hazards.
